If the children’s staff at the library seem especially smiley these days, it’s because we are excited about the return of in-person storytimes. Though video storytimes were extremely fun to make and share, there’s nothing quite like seeing children’s faces as they enjoy stories and songs in a traditional storytime setting. For the health and safety of library patrons and staff, it has been nearly two years since the library has hosted storytime. We look forward to seeing how everyone has grown and to meeting new little ones who have come along!
As you prepare to bring your little ones to storytimes at the library, please make note of these changes:
- To ensure smaller crowd sizes, attendance will be limited. Registration is not required, and storyime will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, this does mean that some families may not be able to attend their first choice storytime session.
- We have added two storytime sessions per week at the Springboro Library to give additional options for families to attend. (See the calendar below for all storytime options.)
- Other than baby storytime, all storytime sessions will include the same content. For now, there is no distinction between toddler age and preschool age storytime. We ask all families to attend only one storytime session per week to make sure more families get the opportunity to attend.
- Storytimes themselves will have a simplified format and will range from 20 to 25 minutes.
- Masks are recommended at the library for all patrons over age 2.
- If you or your little ones are feeling ill, we ask that you stay home and come back to storytime when you are feeling better.
- Storytime is a snack-free zone. Please leave food at home.
We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding with library staff as we dive back into storytimes in this format that has been modified for everyone’s health and safety.
