Library Cards

Any Ohio resident can become a registered borrower upon presenting photo identification with proof of current street address (P.O. boxes are not accepted). Children under 18 require a parent's signature.

Loan Periods

All books, audiobooks, music, magazines, and instructional movies are loaned for 21 days.  Feature films and video games are loaned for 7 days. 

Item Limits

A patron age 17 or younger is limited to a total of 15 items, 4 of which may be music CDs. A patron must be at least 18 years old to checkout movies and video games. Adults may checkout: 10 DVDs, 4 video games, and 10 Music CDs.

The maximum fee for juvenile materials and magazines is $2.00 per item.  The maximum fee for all other materials is $5.00 per item, not to exceed the cost of the item. Items not returned within 50 days of their due date will be charged to your account. This may result is being sent to a Collection Agency, which will add a fee of $10.00 to your account.  If an item is lost for over 1 year, it may not be returned. The lost item must be paid for.

 
Renewals

Items that are not on reserve may be renewed online or by calling the library.  Library accounts may also be accessed through the online Catalog with a library card number and PIN.  Patrons accessing accounts online may also activate and suspend holds.

Holds

Patrons may place holds on all material types in the library. This can be done using the library's online catalog or by asking a staff member at the circulation or reference desks.

Notifications

All patrons receive multiple notices for overdue material.  Patrons will be contacted via mail or email. Email recipients receive a courtesy notice when items are close to their due date.

Item Drop-Off Points

Items may be returned to any of the following locations, regardless of where they were checked out:

  1. Franklin Library,
  2. Springboro Library,
  3. in front of Hunter Elementary School,
  4. in Carlisle, back parking lot of the Franklin Township building.
